Pearson group-owned technology-aided education services company PurpleLeap has in the past fortnight sacked more than 250 staff, or half of its workforce, to cut costs amid slowing business, Economic Times reported.

Pearson group-owned technology-aided education services company PurpleLeap has in the past fortnight sacked more than 250 staff, or half of its workforce, to cut costs amid slowing business, Economic Times reported.

The Bangalore-based company that works with students, colleges and corporations to bridge the gap between professional education and industry requirements, especially in sectors such as information technology, has been hit by losses over the last two years, according to people with direct knowledge.  Pearson spokesman Brendan O'Grady said in an emailed statement that British company has made “significant investments” in India, but some of it has necessitated “realignment of services and customer offerings”.
