Indian Railways to hire a lakh people to meet demand

Indian Railways will recruit 100,000 employees in 2012-13. Of late, a large number of vacancies in various categories of staff, including in the technical and safety-related areas, has had an adverse impact on the organization's operational and safety performance. These recruitments will help overcome a disturbing staff crunch in technical and safety-related areas. Also with these recruitments, Indian Railways will also be wiping out the backlog vacancies of SC/ST/OBC and physically challenged persons and complying with the instructions of DOP&T.
