Bengaluru based IT major, Infosys has announced its plan to set up a technology and innovation hub in Hartford, Connecticut. The company also stated that they plan to hire approximately 1,000 local talent in the state by 2022.

Considered to be a pre-emptive remedy to President Donald Trump’s severe attack on Indian outsourcing firms in the IT sector, in 2017, Infosys announced to add 10,000 in the US and set up four technology and innovation hubs there over the next two years. The first hub was set up in Indiana, and the company said it plans to hire 2,000 American workers there by 2021. The second hub was set up in North Carolina with an aim to recruit 2,000 American employees. It was also reported that Infosys plan to partner with the North Carolina community college to implement a program that will focus on training the workforce for the future. North Carolina would grant $3 million towards upskilling these workers. Now, the third hub is set up in Hartford, Connecticut and the company plans to hire another 1,000 American local talent.

Ravi Kumar, President, Infosys stated in media that the company is excited to announce the expansion of their presence in Connecticut and to create 1,000 technology jobs in the state.

He further mentioned that this investment would supplement their ability to serve clients’ needs throughout the New England region and expand the local workforce to help our clients compete in the rapidly digitizing insurance, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors.
