The year 2013 started on a positive note for job seekers. According to the Naukri Job Speak Index, employment levels saw an increase of 10 per cent in January 2013, as compared to December 2012. This further indicates that Jan has seen maximum number of hiring activities in the last 12 months, thus indicating better times ahead for job seekers. Many key industry segments witnessed an increase in hiring activity; this includes IT-software, BPO, Banking and Oil and Gas. Hiring activity improved by 24 per cent in Oil and Gas sector, by 14 per cent in both banking and BPO. ITeS, software services and sales domains saw maximum hiring activity, while activity in Production, accounts and HR also remained positive. Despite positive hiring movement across most industries, Telecom and Insurance sectors saw a dip in hiring activities as compared to December 2012.
Almost all the important cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad saw increased hiring activity. However, Pune saw a slight dip.
