Naukri Job Speak Index sees minor dip in March 2013

Though the overall Naukri Job Speak Index has shown an increase in hiring by 11.5 per cent year-on-year; thanks to the ongoing appraisal season has led to a minor dip of 1.1% in the index for March 2013, when compared to February 2013. Indeed this has been the norm. Traditionally, March has always been a month where recruitment slows down across sectors. Likewise, this year too a few sectors like IT-software, auto and oil & gas dip in comparison to Feb 2013. However, hiring in pharmaceutical, construction and BPO sectors have remained positive in March 2013 in comparison to the previous month. In terms of functional areas, the hiring activity for professionals in areas like banking and insurance has shown a record dip of 13 per cent in March 2013 over the previous month. Other key sectors like IT, Accounts, marketing and HR have also witnessed lower hiring numbers in the range of 3% to 7%. The ITES sector, however, has increased by 8% in March 2013 over February 2013.
