New President of India Met Society

Akhilesh Gupta has been elected as the President of Indian Meteorological Society for a two-year term. Gupta (50) is the youngest-ever President of the society, a spokesman said. Established in 1956, the society is a non-profit organisation that promotes advancement, dissemination of knowledge, and application of meteorology and related sciences. Gupta had only recently been elected as Fellow of Indian Meteorological Society. Those elected Fellows earlier include APJ Abdul Kalam; MS Swaminathan; K Kasturirangan; and Jagadish Shukla (US).
