Online job demand increases marginally

According to a survey by job portal Monster.com, after two consecutive months of decline, recruitment activities in India witnessed a moderate improvement in July. The portal’s employment index, a monthly gauge of the country's online job demand, rose by 2 points (1.58%) to 128 in July, from 126 points in the previous month. On an year-on-year basis, the index level has risen by 4% from 123 points recorded in July 2011. The month saw an increase in demand for technically qualified professionals in customer service, engineering, senior management, marketing & communications, health care, logistics, hospitality, legal and in the arts and creative field.

On an year-on-year basis, the index level has risen by 4% from 123 points recorded in July 2011. The month saw an increase in demand for technically qualified professionals in customer service, engineering, senior management, marketing & communications, health care, logistics, hospitality, legal and in the arts and creative field.

In terms of cities, out of the 13 under review, only Mumbai saw a decline in online demand for jobs. In Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chandigarh demand remained unchanged while it increased in the rest of the cities being monitored.
