Vivek Paranjpe back at RIL to head HR
Reliance Industries, India’s largest private sector company, has brought back Vivek Paranjpe as the head of human resources to meet personnel challenges as it buys companies overseas. Mr Paranjpe has a mandate to formalise succession planning, groom managers and restructure performance management systems. Besides being a Reliance veteran, he has worked with multinationals such as Hewlett-Packard. Mr Paranjpe succeeds the late VV Bhatt, who brought talent to the company from public sector behemoths when its founder Dhirubhai Ambani built the world’s largest grassroots refinery in Jamnagar and expanded the petrochemical business.
RIL recently formed core teams, comprising mainly of business heads, to implement the new initiative. Finance, HR and technology are three areas where the transformation initiatives have gathered pace. “It’s still at the leadership level,” said a person close to the development. Multinational consultants such as Ernst & Young (E&Y) are working with the finance division, he added.
