Small cities, towns emerge as big hiring zones

As Tier II and III cities gain ground given their cost effectiveness and lower attrition rates; a survey conducted by recruitment tendering platform MyHiringClub.com states that these towns are emerging as the new big hiring zones for many sectors, especially engineering and manufacturing.

As Tier II and III cities gain ground given their cost effectiveness and lower attrition rates; a survey conducted by recruitment tendering platform MyHiringClub.com states that these towns are emerging as the new big hiring zones for many sectors, especially engineering and manufacturing.

The survey further states that hiring activities grew by 27 per cent in Tier-II cities such as Pune and Hyderabad during the January-June period of 2011 as compared to the year-ago period. Also
16 per cent growth in recruitment was witnessed in Tier-III cities like Jaipur, Ghaziabad and Kochi during the first half of the 2011 from the year-ago period.

In terms of sectoral analysis, the manufacturing and engineering space accounted for 31 per cent of the total hiring from Tier II and III cities, followed by retail (23 per cent), BFSI (19 per cent), FMCG (19 per cent), IT and ITeS (17 per cent), Telecom (11 per cent) and Infrastructure (9 per cent).
