The layoffs are concentrated in the US, and are mostly focused on R&D and some Go-to-Market teams.

In a message to employees, CEO Chris Hyams said, "This was a difficult decision, but it is necessary to simplify our organisation and make it easier to make decisions." The company says the layoffs will help it to focus on its core business of providing job search services to employers and job seekers.

The layoffs come at a time when Indeed is facing increased competition from other job boards, such as LinkedIn and Glassdoor. The company is also facing pressure from investors to improve its profitability.

"We are confident that these changes will make Indeed a stronger company in the long term," Hyams said.

He added, "I am responsible for how we got here, and the entire SLT is responsible for making the difficult decisions necessary to help set us up for the future. We know these decisions will have a significant impact on people’s lives. I’d like to share some context for why I believe it’s necessary."
