“This is not a goodbye, it's more of a thank you,” wrote Rahul Jaimini, Swiggy’s co-founder. “After being a part of the founding team and the close family we've all become over these past 6 years, it's time for me to take up a new challenge,” he added. The new challenge awaits Jaimini at a career accelerator startup, Pesto tech which he joins as co-founder.
As Jaimini moves on from Swiggy, CEO Sriharsha Majety reminisces the founding days in a heartfelt blog, “Bidding Goodbye to Rahul Jaimini: Friend, Co-founder, Magician”.
“Rahul epitomises the ‘founder mentality’ to the tee. Incredibly grounded and with an unwavering org-first attitude, he’s always reminded me how fortunate I was to have a founding team like this – one with pure trust and zero second guessing,” wrote Majety.
At Swiggy Jaimini was leading functions including platform engineering, analytics, IT, and Swiggy Labs. These will now report to Dale Vaz, the head of engineering and data science. While Jaimini will no longer be involved in day-to-day responsibilities at Swiggy, he will continue to be a board member and a shareholder at the company.
“This is the end of an era for Swiggy, and team and I will definitely miss having Rahul around. We wish him the absolute best with his new mission and will be cheering for him from the sidelines,” wrote Majety.
Jaimini now looks forward to his new role at Pesto Tech, which had raised $2 Mn in seed funding led by Matrix Partner in May last year. Along with Matrix, Swiggy founders Majety, Jaimani and Reddy had also participated in the round. Pesto Tech trains and invests in the most promising programmers from all over India. It puts them through an intense training program which includes Design Thinking, Product, Architecture, and Business Logic. It also assists in completing the paperwork and the taxation/employee benefits part, for companies. Pesto Tech identifies itself as a fast track performance building accelerator, training the best and weeding out the rest. As the pandemic changes the way we work and accelerates the digitization journey for many, the demand for tech talent is also most likely to rise. On the other hand, as the lockdown continues, businesses will mostly work remotely. Pesto Tech has to keep a close eye on these rapidly changing market trends and improvize their solutions and offerings accordingly. How will Jaimini help Pesto Tech make the most of this opportunity is to look forward to.
