Tech hiring to surge across industries: Report

India's tech sector is poised for a hiring boom, according to a new report by Quess Corp. The "Annual Digital Skills Report FY24" reveals a surge in demand for tech talent across diverse industries, extending beyond traditional tech hubs like IT and BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance).

The report highlights the resilience and growth potential of India's IT industry, despite global uncertainties. While core skills like development, ERP, and testing remain in high demand, niche areas like cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics are experiencing the fastest growth.

"We anticipate a rise in IT hiring fueled by the expansion of Global Capability Centers and a stabilising global economy," says Kapil Joshi, Deputy CEO of Quess IT Staffing. He also points to advancements like big data and AI as key drivers for growth.

The most significant shift is the growing demand for tech talent across various sectors. Previously focused on IT, companies in manufacturing, retail, and healthcare are embracing digital transformation, driving the need for specialised tech skills.

South India, led by Bengaluru and Chennai, remains a tech talent powerhouse, accounting for 68% of hiring requests. However, the report also identifies emerging traction in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Indore, and Jaipur, signalling a more diverse tech talent landscape across India.

As businesses navigate the digital age, the demand for cloud, cybersecurity, and data analytics skills is expected to soar. This shift will shape the future of work in India, creating exciting opportunities for skilled professionals and accelerating the country's digital transformation journey.
