Airtel is going through a digital transformation to be ahead of the market and establish its leadership in telecom. And to achieve this transformation it has partnered with Coursera. 

Late in November, Bharti Airtel Limited announced this partnership which aims to equip its employees with advanced skills.

The Global Chief Human Resources Officer of Airtel, Srikanth Balachandran said, “With technology changing dramatically, it is changing the way organizations operate and the role of an individual is evolving as well. We have always promoted a strong culture of learning within our organization as we feel that it is imperative to equip employees with specialized skills of the future.”

Through this initiative, employees will be provided various courses on machine learning, data science, digital technology, cybersecurity, cloud, IoT and some soft skill courses, such as leadership and HR Skills. Coursera will give certificates to the employees who complete the courses and they can add these to their professional credits and qualifications.

Raghav Gupta, India Country Director, Coursera emphasized on the importance of keeping the workforce future ready and said, “For an organization like Airtel, being one the leading telecom players of the country working in various domains, it is critical to keep up with the pace of change.” 

Coursera is an online education and learning provider with a total of 149 partners across 29 countries as of February 2017. Until this time it also had 24 million registered users signed up for its programs.
