Airtel onboards 50 summer interns from India’s Top B-Schools. Redesigns its Young Leaders Summer Internship Program to make it fully virtual.

As part of its commitment to keep ‘lights on’ to ensure India stays connected during the COVID-19 lockdown, Airtel has innovated to honor its B- school summer placement offers for this year.

This week, over 50 summer interns from India’s top B-schools were digitally on-boarded to Airtel’s Young Leader Summer Internship Program 2020. These B-Schools include IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, IIFT Delhi, NITIE Mumbai, JBIMS Mumbai & XLRI Jamshedpur.

The company has redesigned its Young Leaders Summer Internship Program to make it completely virtual. Right from induction to mentorship to final reviews, the entire program will run virtually.

Projects have been designed keeping in mind the remote nature of working & all interns have been provided a learning journey as per their internship streams. All projects are real-time problems & interns will gain cross-functional exposure in their pursuit for solutions.

Apart from their project guides, Airtel has also assigned ‘virtual buddies’ (company employees) to each intern. These virtual buddies will help them navigate through Airtel’s ecosystem & virtually handhold them in their internship journey.

Samit Deb, CHRO, Airtel, said,  “Innovation is at the core of Airtel’s DNA and we are enablers of digital lifestyles of our customers. In these unprecedented times, we have transformed every process to make it virtual and made sure nothing within the company has to stop or be postponed. We believe this unique experience will add immense value to learning of these leaders of tomorrow.”
