Pilots end strike, Maharaja to return to the skies

The four day long deadlock between the striking pilots of Air India and its management has finally ended after assurance from the government. The stir had begun after India’s debt ridden public carrier decided to cut performance linked incentives of pilots as a part of its cost reduction exercise. The pilots’ body was opposed to this move as PLIs make up a substantial part of executive pilots’ package. It is believed that the stern warning by the Prime Minister along with assurance from Union Civil Aviation minister forced the pilots to call off the strike. It is being estimated that the 4 day long stir has led to losses worth Rs. 100 crores to India’s largest airline company.
