Cogito faces backlash as 177 employees lose jobs without proper notification

Around 177 workers have reportedly been laid off by automation startup Cogito, which is located in New York and Delhi NCR. The company claims that these individuals were working on a project that has since been abandoned.

However, some employees contend that they were not informed of their termination by the company. According to sources, the startup has shut down operations at the office where these workers were based, reported Startup Story.

Cogito's laid-off employees organised a protest alleging that the company did not provide them with any prior notice before terminating their employment and that they did not receive their due salaries. Meanwhile, Cogito claimed that the employees were informed of the decision and have been paid their full salaries.

The tech startup industry has witnessed a significant number of layoffs recently, with companies attributing the downsizing to various reasons such as cost-cutting, rightsizing, funding deficit, and poor employee performance.
