The social networking websites are an issue of concern for various companies, this reaction is similar to the reaction when chat was first introduced and frowned on it. According to a random survey of close to 4,000 employees revealed that close to 12.5% of the productivity of employees in India is lost daily on social networks. Although 83% employees see nothing wrong with surfing during office hours, but the companies are still wary of social sites and services. Some of the companies are trying to frame policies on access to these networks during working hours. Experts also believe that instead of defining the time spent on social networks as wasteful in all cases, companies should start harnessing the technology to their benefit, for activities such s marketing. Also, some controls on the usage of the same could be incorporated in organizations keeping an eye on both productivity and protection of corporate information.
Social networks again a worry for employers!
