Chevron employees to receive bonus equal to half a month's base pay

The US energy major will reward most employees with a special cash bonus after strong operational performance and record earnings, according to an internal email seen by Reuters.
Chevron will award most employees a special bonus equivalent to half of their monthly base pay, recognising operational performance during the year after the US oil producer reported record earnings.
According to an internal email seen by Reuters, the one-time payment follows a year in which the company met key operational targets, completed integration milestones ahead of schedule and maintained operations amid geopolitical challenges.
CEO credits employees for operational performance
In the email, Chevron CEO Mike Wirth praised employees for delivering strong results across multiple priorities.
He highlighted progress in reducing costs, achieving synergies from the Hess acquisition ahead of schedule and maintaining safe operations despite geopolitical developments affecting regions including Venezuela and the Middle East.
Wirth wrote: "Results like these in a year like this are not ordinary. They reflect extraordinary effort under extraordinary circumstances."
The email stated the special payment will amount to half of one month's base salary for most employees.
Bonus follows record earnings
The announcement comes shortly after Chevron reported record earnings, supported by higher oil prices linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, according to Reuters.
The employee bonus recognises operational achievements recorded during the year rather than introducing changes to the company's regular compensation structure.

Announcement comes amid political scrutiny
The employee bonus was announced as US President Donald Trump renewed criticism of major oil companies over fuel prices.
According to Reuters, Trump urged oil producers to reduce retail gasoline prices and publicly criticised Wirth during a television interview. He also called on oil companies to lower prices in a post on Truth Social.
Reuters reported Chevron did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding Trump's remarks.
A workforce reward tied to execution
The decision highlights Chevron's emphasis on recognising operational execution during a year marked by market volatility and geopolitical uncertainty.
Beyond financial performance, the company linked the bonus to workforce contributions in delivering efficiency targets, integrating the Hess acquisition and maintaining business continuity across multiple operating regions.
