Government appoints Pralhad Joshi as Education Minister in additional charge

The Central government has assigned the additional charge of the Ministry of Education to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, hours after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from the Union Council of Ministers following protests linked to the NEET paper leak.

According to a government press release, President Droupadi Murmu, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accepted Pradhan's resignation. Joshi will continue to hold his existing ministerial responsibilities while taking charge of the education portfolio.

Leadership transition follows minister's resignation

The change in leadership comes amid widespread protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over the alleged NEET paper leak.

The government announced that Pralhad Joshi would assume responsibility for the Ministry of Education in addition to his current ministries.

At present, Joshi serves as the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, as well as the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
