Mahindra Insurance Brokers elevates Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya to Head HR role

Internal leadership move brings over two decades of HR experience to support people strategy and organisational growth at Mahindra Insurance Brokers.
Mahindra Insurance Brokers Limited has elevated Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya to the position of Head HR, strengthening its leadership team as the company focuses on employee development, engagement and business-aligned people practices.
The appointment, effective August 2026, marks an internal leadership transition from Mahindra Finance, where Bhattacharya spent more than two decades in a series of senior human resources roles.
Veteran HR leader takes charge of people strategy
In his new role, Bhattacharya will oversee HR development and people-related initiatives across Mahindra Insurance Brokers. He will work closely with business teams on HR practices, employee engagement and organisational requirements.
According to information shared by the company, the appointment comes from within the wider Mahindra Group, reflecting a preference for leveraging internal leadership talent for critical people management functions.
Bhattacharya brings more than 24 years of HR experience across financial services and other sectors.
Key highlights of his professional background:
- More than 21 years with Mahindra Finance in various HR leadership positions.
- Most recently led HR for the Wheels business and receivables.
- Served as Country Group Head and Lead for Employee Engagement.
- Worked on HR re-engineering initiatives and employee engagement programmes across multiple business lines in India.
- Developed workforce productivity and attrition management frameworks during previous leadership assignments.
Long-standing association with Mahindra Finance
Before moving to Mahindra Insurance Brokers, Bhattacharya held several strategic HR positions at Mahindra Finance.
His recent responsibilities included leading HR operations for key business segments while supporting employee engagement initiatives across the organisation. During this period, he worked with business leaders on organisational effectiveness and people transformation programmes.
Earlier assignments included a stint of more than four years as Business HR Head, where he partnered with leadership teams on HR policies, workforce productivity and people interventions. He also contributed to the development of early warning systems designed to track attrition and productivity trends.
Prior to that, he served for nearly five years as Country Head-Human Resources, managing a broad portfolio covering:
- Talent acquisition
- Performance management
- Employee lifecycle management
- Corporate social responsibility initiatives
- Organisational development programmes
His tenure also included involvement in organisational restructuring efforts and graduate internship programmes.
Experience spans regional and national HR leadership
Bhattacharya's journey within Mahindra Finance also included more than eight years as Zonal Head-Human Resources based in Kolkata, where he managed HR operations across eastern and northeastern India.
Before joining the Mahindra Group, he worked with Sahara India as Manager-HR, handling talent acquisition and talent management activities for the Chairman's Office.
His academic credentials include graduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Allahabad, along with a Human Resource Leadership Programme from Cornell University ILR School.
Focus on people development in insurance broking business
The appointment comes as organisations across financial services continue to place greater emphasis on workforce engagement, leadership development and talent retention.
As Head HR, Bhattacharya is expected to lead initiatives aimed at aligning people practices with business priorities while supporting employee experience and organisational capability building at Mahindra Insurance Brokers.
