Godrej Industries appoints Pirojsha Godrej as Executive Chairperson

Godrej Industries has appointed Pirojsha Godrej as Executive Chairperson, effective August 14, 2026, succeeding Nadir Godrej, who retires from the role after turning 75, according to media reports.

The leadership transition comes two years after the Godrej family realignment in April 2024, which split the group into two independent entities.

Pirojsha now leads the listed Godrej Industries Group, while the unlisted Godrej Enterprises Group operates separately.

Pirojsha takes wider leadership mandate

Pirojsha currently serves as Chairperson of Godrej Properties, Godrej Capital and Godrej Ventures. He has played a key role in expanding Godrej Properties, which became India's largest real estate developer by residential sales in FY21, a position it continues to hold.

His appointment as Executive Chairperson of Godrej Industries and Chairperson of the Godrej Industries Group will see him oversee strategic capital allocation, corporate growth and governance across the group's businesses.

The succession has been in motion since Pirojsha was appointed Chairperson-Designate in April 2026.

Group expands across multiple sectors

Under Pirojsha's leadership, the Godrej Industries Group has recorded more than 20% compounded annual growth in both sales and net profits over the five years leading up to FY26.

The group has businesses spanning residential real estate, animal feed, crude palm oil, oleochemicals, household insecticides, hair colour and air care.

As of April 2026, the group's listed businesses had a market capitalisation of more than $20 billion.

Godrej Consumer Products and Godrej Properties were both ranked first globally in their respective categories on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices in 2025. Godrej Properties also secured the top global ranking in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark in 2025.

From real estate to group leadership

Before taking on the leadership of the Godrej Industries Group, Pirojsha led Godrej Properties through a period of rapid expansion. He also founded Godrej Capital and Godrej Ventures.

His new role places him at the centre of the group's next phase of growth, spanning real estate, consumer products and other businesses.

Pirojsha graduated from the Wharton School of Business and holds a Master's in International Affairs from Columbia University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
