HDFC Bank appoints Vibhash Naik as its new CHRO from February 2026

HDFC Bank has appointed Vibhash Naik as its new Chief Human Resource Officer, with effect from 1 February 2026, the bank said in a regulatory communication on Monday.

The appointment was cleared by the Board of Directors following recommendations from the lender’s Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Naik will join as Senior Management Personnel, the bank said.

Naik moves from HDFC Life Insurance Company, where he served as Chief Human Resources Officer. In that role, he oversaw HR, learning and development, and corporate administration. Business publications reporting on his appointment noted that he was instrumental in building a technology-led HR architecture designed to elevate employee experience and strengthen organisational culture at the insurer.

Over a 25-year career, Naik has held senior HR and talent roles across global and domestic firms including Lehman Brothers, Religare Macquarie, Tata Interactive and Atos Origin. His expertise spans talent management, organisation development, performance management, HR technology and rewards—areas that have become central to banks navigating rapid workforce and digital shifts.

Naik holds a Master’s degree in Labour Studies from the University of Mumbai.

His appointment comes at a time when India’s largest private-sector bank is tightening its focus on talent strategy, digital capabilities and post-merger integration priorities. Analysts say the HR function will play a pivotal role as the lender works to streamline operations and develop future-ready skills across its vast workforce.
