Naveen Kumar appointed CHRO for auto division at Asahi India Glass

Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS) has appointed Naveen Kumar as chief human resources officer for its automotive division, strengthening its leadership team at a time when the company is expanding its manufacturing and talent footprint.

The appointment was announced by Kumar in a LinkedIn post earlier this week, confirming his move into the role of CHRO (Auto Division) at the glass and integrated window solutions major.

Kumar brings close to 18 years of experience in human resources across corporate and plant environments, with expertise spanning organisational development, talent management, learning and development, HR operations, manpower planning, compensation and benefits, industrial relations and legal compliance.

He has been with Asahi India Glass for over a decade, most recently serving in senior HR leadership roles including deputy general manager HR and general manager, corporate HR, before assuming charge as CHRO for the auto division. His earlier career includes stints at Halonix and other automotive and manufacturing-led organisations.

AIS said Kumar’s mandate will include leading people strategy for the automotive business, with a focus on leadership capability building, workforce planning, HR digitisation and aligning talent priorities with business growth.

Kumar holds an MBA in human resources management from ICFAI University, Hyderabad, and has additional certifications in talent management, total rewards and HR analytics.

The appointment comes as automotive suppliers face increasing pressure to balance scale, cost efficiency and skills transformation amid shifts in mobility, localisation and manufacturing complexity. For AIS, the leadership move signals a sharper focus on building organisational depth as its auto glass business continues to grow.
