Orient Electric, part of the C.K. Birla Group, has appointed Upasana Ratra as its new Head of Talent Acquisition. Announcing the appointment in a LinkedIn post, Ratra wrote: “I’m thrilled to join Orient Electric Ltd. (C.K.A. Birla Group) as the Head – Talent Acquisition!”

With close to two decades of experience, Ratra spent over ten years at Hero MotoCorp, where she most recently served as Head of Talent Acquisition & Diversity & Inclusion. During her tenure, she spearheaded end-to-end talent acquisition strategies, overhauled campus recruitment programmes, launched large-scale diversity initiatives, and established industry-leading onboarding processes for both campus and lateral hires—significantly enhancing the candidate experience at all levels.

Her earlier career includes recruitment consulting roles at Executive Access India, TRANSEARCH India, and Catalysts Services, where she specialised in CXO and leadership hiring across industries such as manufacturing, real estate, financial services, automotive, and FMCG.

A Strategic Vision for Talent and Inclusion

In remarks shared via Business Manager, Ratra outlined her priorities at Orient Electric:

These commitments highlight her reputation as a strategic HR leader with expertise in aligning talent strategies to evolving business needs, leading recruitment transformations, and elevating employer branding and inclusion.

Orient Electric, a leading name in Indian consumer electricals known for its innovative product portfolio—spanning fans, lighting, appliances, and switchgear—stands to benefit from Ratra’s appointment. Her focus on employer branding, diversity, campus hiring, and recruitment excellence aligns seamlessly with the company’s ambition to enhance its workforce and cement its position as an employer of choice in the manufacturing and consumer durables sector.

By bringing her “people-first approach” and extensive HR transformation experience to Orient Electric, Ratra is well placed to shape and elevate the company’s talent agenda as it navigates its next phase of growth and change.
