Reliance Consumer Products appoints Omkar Singh as head of manufacturing HR

Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL) has appointed Omkar Singh as Head – Manufacturing HR, strengthening its leadership team as it scales up its manufacturing operations across India.

In the new role, Singh will be responsible for driving people strategy, workforce development and HR frameworks across the company’s manufacturing ecosystem, with a focus on industrial relations, compliance and operational efficiency.

Based in Pune, Singh will work on aligning HR practices with business objectives, particularly in large-scale plant operations and workforce-intensive environments, the company said.

Focus on manufacturing-led growth

The appointment comes at a time when RCPL is rapidly expanding its manufacturing footprint as part of its broader FMCG strategy.

The company has announced multiple investments in manufacturing infrastructure, including a ₹1,500 crore facility in Maharashtra and a ₹1,156 crore unit in Tamil Nadu, aimed at building a nationwide production network, according to The Economic Times and other industry reports.

These investments are part of a larger plan to build integrated food parks and scale operations, with manufacturing expected to play a central role in driving growth and cost efficiency.

Against this backdrop, strengthening HR leadership in manufacturing becomes critical, particularly in managing large workforces, ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining industrial relations stability.

Experience across manufacturing HR

Singh brings over a decade of experience in HR leadership roles across manufacturing and FMCG sectors.

Prior to joining RCPL, he was associated with Fenesta Windows as Human Resources Business Partner II, where he led initiatives in workforce planning, employee relations and compliance management.

He previously spent more than nine years at Hero MotoCorp, managing end-to-end HR functions across workforce segments, including recruitment, talent management, organisational development and HR operations.

Earlier roles at Asahi India Glass and Rockman Industries helped build his foundation in industrial relations, labour law compliance and plant HR practices.

Strategic importance of HR in scale-up phase

RCPL, the consumer goods arm of Reliance Industries, has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing FMCG businesses, with ambitions to scale significantly over the next few years.

As the company expands manufacturing capacity and builds supply chains, HR is expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring workforce readiness, operational discipline and cultural alignment across sites.

The appointment of a dedicated manufacturing HR head signals a sharper focus on building robust people systems to support this expansion.

What comes next

Singh’s appointment reflects a broader trend among large consumer companies, where HR leadership is being closely integrated with operational strategy.

As RCPL accelerates its manufacturing investments, the effectiveness of its workforce strategy will be key to translating scale into sustained growth.
