Tata Consultancy Services has appointed Prerna Sinha as Head of Human Resources for its Cyber Security Business Group, strengthening leadership oversight at a time when cyber talent has become central to enterprise growth and digital trust.
Sinha announced the move in a LinkedIn post, marking her transition into the role after nearly two decades with the IT services major. She will be responsible for driving the people agenda for TCS’s cyber security business, including capability building, culture, workforce planning and leadership alignment.
“In a world where digital trust is critical, building strong, future-ready cyber talent is more important than ever,” Sinha said, adding that she would work closely with business and leadership teams to enable growth and capability across the unit.
Deep internal experience
Sinha brings extensive internal experience to the role, having spent over 18 years at TCS across multiple senior HR leadership positions. Prior to her current appointment, she served as HR Head for the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) business units, and earlier led HR for the Manufacturing and Utilities verticals.
She has also held leadership roles in experienced professionals hiring and large-scale talent acquisition, overseeing high-volume and niche hiring programmes across India. Her career at TCS has spanned business partnering, organisation effectiveness, workforce planning, and HR transformation.
Her appointment comes as cyber security talent has emerged as a strategic priority for global technology firms. According to Reuters, demand for cyber professionals continues to outpace supply as enterprises increase spending on digital resilience, regulatory compliance and data protection.
TCS has been expanding its cyber security offerings across industries, with increased focus on cloud security, identity management and enterprise risk. Leadership appointments in people roles are increasingly viewed as critical to sustaining specialised talent pipelines in high-skill domains.
Career background
Before joining TCS, Sinha began her career in HR and talent engagement roles in the Indian technology services sector. She is an alumnus of the Institute of Management Development & Research, Pune, where she completed her postgraduate management studies in human resources, and holds an undergraduate degree in management sciences from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.
With cyber security now embedded in board-level risk discussions, Sinha’s mandate will be closely watched as TCS balances rapid capability building with retention and leadership development in a highly competitive talent market.
Her appointment signals TCS’s intent to align specialised business growth with equally specialised people leadership as cyber security becomes foundational to digital enterprise strategy.
