Ashneer Grover enters workplace finance with employee loan platform

Former BharatPe Managing Director and co-founder Ashneer Grover has entered the workplace finance segment with the launch of Fund My Staff, a fintech platform designed to help employees access loans through employer-backed guarantees.

According to reporting by Entrackr, the platform allows employers to facilitate loans for their workforce without lending their own capital. Instead, employers act as guarantors, while loans are originated and sanctioned by regulated lending partners.

A new approach to employee credit access

Grover announced the launch on LinkedIn on Thursday, positioning the platform as a solution for employees who have limited or no credit history but require access to formal financing.

The platform is designed for employers that want to support employee financial wellbeing by enabling access to credit through an employer-backed approval process.

Under the model, employees apply for loans through their employer. Once the employer approves the request and agrees to act as the guarantor, the loan is disbursed to the employee, who repays it through equated monthly instalments (EMIs).

Employers do not finance the loan directly. Their role is limited to guaranteeing repayment, while the lending capital is provided by regulated financial institutions.

How the platform works

According to information published on the Fund My Staff website, employers can onboard employees by adding their details and setting an eligible loan amount for each individual.

The process includes:

The platform is intended to simplify access to formal credit for employees who may otherwise face challenges because of limited borrowing history.

Operates under RBI digital lending framework

The platform states that it functions as a Lending Service Provider (LSP) under the Reserve Bank of India's Digital Lending Guidelines.

According to the company, all loans are originated and sanctioned by RBI-registered lending partners, while Fund My Staff facilitates the borrowing journey between employers, employees and lending institutions.

This structure means the platform does not operate as a lender itself but serves as an intermediary within the regulated digital lending ecosystem.

Expanding the role of workplace financial benefits

The launch marks Ashneer Grover's latest venture after his exit from BharatPe and reflects growing interest in workplace financial products that extend beyond traditional compensation and benefits.

Employer-supported financial wellbeing programmes have increasingly expanded to include earned wage access, insurance, financial planning and credit solutions. Fund My Staff introduces a model where employers participate by providing a repayment guarantee rather than funding employee loans directly.

As organisations continue to explore financial wellbeing initiatives to support talent attraction and retention, employer-backed lending models could emerge as another option for companies seeking to improve employees' access to formal credit while operating within India's regulated digital lending framework.
