US President Donald Trump has called for the resignation of Intel’s newly appointed CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, citing alleged conflicts of interest over his ties to Chinese firms.
Posting on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The CEO of Intel is highly conflicted and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem.”
Tan, a seasoned tech executive, was recently named CEO of the semiconductor giant. However, concerns have been raised in political circles about his past associations with firms operating in China — a sensitive issue amid ongoing US-China tech tensions and trade disputes.
Trump’s remarks come as part of a broader stance on national security and economic competition with China, especially in critical sectors like semiconductors.
