Himalaya appoints former VLCC chief Vikas Gupta as India CEO

Himalaya Wellness Company has appointed Vikas Gupta as Chief Executive Officer, India, marking a significant leadership change for the consumer healthcare and personal care company as it looks to strengthen its presence in one of its largest markets.

According to reporting by BestMediaInfo, Gupta will take charge of Himalaya's India business on 23 September 2026, joining from VLCC, where he currently serves as CEO and Managing Director.

The appointment brings to Himalaya an executive with experience spanning traditional FMCG, e-commerce, beauty retail and business transformation across global and Indian markets.

A leader with experience across consumer businesses

Gupta has spent more than 27 years working across consumer-focused sectors. His career includes leadership roles at some of the world's largest consumer and digital businesses.

A substantial part of his career was spent at Unilever, where he worked for nearly two decades across multiple geographies, including:

  • India
  • Singapore
  • Brazil
  • The United Kingdom
  • Indonesia

During this period, he worked across brand management, commercial operations, growth strategy and business leadership.

His experience later expanded into India's fast-growing digital commerce sector.

From FMCG to digital commerce

Following his tenure at Unilever, Gupta joined Flipkart as Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, taking on responsibilities linked to customer growth and brand strategy.

He subsequently moved to Nykaa, where he served as CEO, Superstore, Nykaa Pro and International. In that role, he worked on the beauty retailer's B2B commerce operations and professional beauty business.

Most recently, Gupta led VLCC as CEO and Managing Director, overseeing the company's transformation and growth initiatives.
