Procter & Gamble (P&G) has appointed Shailesh Jejurikar as Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective 1 August 2026, marking the latest step in the company's leadership transition. Jejurikar will continue to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer while taking on the additional responsibility.
The announcement, made by P&G on Wednesday, follows the retirement of Executive Chairman Jon Moeller, who will step down from the Board on 31 July and retire from the company on 14 August, concluding a 38-year career spanning several senior leadership positions.
Leadership transition at the top
According to the company, Jejurikar succeeds Moeller, who has served as Executive Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer during his tenure at P&G.
Commenting on the transition, Jejurikar thanked Moeller for his leadership and contribution to the company.
"I want to thank Jon for his many years of tireless and steady leadership at P&G," Jejurikar said in the company's statement.
He added that Moeller's strategic vision had played a significant role in shaping the business and praised his commitment to the organisation and its people.
Nearly four decades at Procter & Gamble
Jejurikar joined P&G in 1989 and has been a member of the company's global leadership team since 2014.
According to the company, he has held leadership positions across multiple businesses, markets and functions throughout his career.
His experience includes:
- Leading the company's global Fabric Care and Home Care businesses
- Managing operations across North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America
- Overseeing supply chain strategy
- Leading information technology initiatives
- Driving global business services strategy
The appointment places one of P&G's longest-serving leaders in the dual role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Leadership change follows succession plan
The latest appointment forms part of P&G's planned leadership succession. Key milestones include:
- Shailesh Jejurikar becomes Chairman on 1 August 2026
- He continues to serve as President and CEO
- Jon Moeller retires from the Board on 31 July
- Moeller retires from P&G on 14 August after 38 years with the company
Jejurikar is also the brother of Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of the Auto and Farm Sector at Mahindra Group.
Focus shifts to the next phase
The leadership transition comes as P&G continues with a succession process centred on continuity at the top of the organisation. With Jejurikar now assuming the chairmanship while retaining executive leadership, the company is entering its next phase under a leader who has spent 37 years building businesses across global markets and operational functions.
