- Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG)
As of 30 June 2026, the retailer operated 819 stores across 559 cities spanning 28 states and two Union Territories. The company also serves customers through its mobile application and online platform.
The scale of its physical network places it among the country's largest organised value retailers.
Financial performance supports confidence
The leadership extension follows a strong start to FY27.
For the quarter ended June 2026, the company reported:
- Consolidated net profit of Rs 258.77 crore, up 25.57% year-on-year from Rs 206.07 crore
- Net sales of Rs 3,727.01 crore, an increase of 18.68% compared with the corresponding period last year
The earnings growth reflects continued demand across its retail categories and the benefits of its expanding store network.
Focus turns to the next phase of growth
With the board extending Kapur's tenure through 2031, Vishal Mega Mart has signalled its preference for leadership continuity as it pursues further expansion across India.
The company enters the next phase of its growth strategy with an enlarged retail footprint, improving profitability and a management team that now has a long-term mandate from the board.
