New job roles for the new HR

HR as a part of a company, when it began, had the singular task of hiring people for work. With time, this work description began evolving, and more responsibilities were added to this work domain. Now, HR is not only about hiring individuals but more about taking care of an employee's engagement skills, their wellbeing at work, and providing and empowering employees in new-age skills that have become the need of the hour to succeed in the future of work.

In the future, with the involvement of technology and automation being heavy in all sectors of work, HR will undoubtedly be no exception. Many of the tasks that humans perform today will be automated, making tech a priority for the HR of tomorrow. Millennials belong to an agile generation and are always on the lookout for something more meaningful and purpose-driven in their work. HR needs to be adept at matching the pace of this generation because a slow company will lag in business.

As the HR fraternity tackles the next curve for the function as a whole, it is time to look at the various future job roles that are going to prove to be instrumental in the upcoming years. Since the responsibilities of HR are changing and will make a revamp in the future with the technology involved in it, let's take a look at some of the future career options in HR that companies need to be prepared for:

HR Data Scientist

The tech revolution is underway, and HR could be undermined if it does not pick up the pace to adopt the skills needed to make the most of new digital solutions. Choosing to be an HR Data Scientist as a career option is a promising one since companies are now investing in HR more than ever before. A data-driven HR helps to make better decisions at the time of hiring, to analyze the best fit of a candidate for a job and to have better outcomes for both the organization and its employees. Data analytics can help you map out the career path of your candidates and thus help you make better-informed decisions. Their job entails asking candidates to perform a series of tests which are then assessed by machine learning algorithms for their suitability for different roles, resulting in 70,000 hours of interviews and assessments being saved from HR employees' time.

Head of HR Technology

As opposed to finding HR leaders being chained to their cabins and desks, the future of this designation is more than just being called the Head of the Department. The future of HR is changing with the digital revolution, and a few things that the future HR needs to be capable of performing is improving the employee experience and keeping the organization competitive and agile. As the head of HR technology, a few other future trends that you need to prepare for are prescriptive and predictive analysis, artificial intelligence and natural language processing, bringing in virtual reality to engage employees and blockchain technology.

Organizational Psychologist

As an organizational psychologist, the areas you get to use your expertise will widen in the range from identifying the gaps in training and development needs of the employees to providing solutions to problems that improve employee's wellbeing and performance at work. They will also have to make use of psychological techniques to bring in this change within the employees by creating awareness amongst them. There are courses currently for this that help individuals train in understanding the various issues to tackle at the workplace by understanding the science of human behaviour.

Skills Gap Specialist

HR role as a skills gap specialist is one that evaluates that necessary skills required for the organization and works to fill in this gap with the right talent. It is also essential to provide the employee with the capabilities of the future and keep them updated to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. To be a skills gap specialist, you have to first be tech-savvy to learn and become a master in them. The future is advanced, and all based on the foundation of technology, be it automation or AI. As a skills gap leader, it is imperative that you first ace this to be able to help others fill the gaps at work.

Employee Experience Specialist

Employee experience is a field that is slowly gaining much momentum. It is no longer critical to only have employees, but their experience in the workplace also plays a crucial role. Smart companies need to have employee experience teams with specialists that work only with the notion to make an employee's experience better at the workplace. Since employees are the first in-house customer, their needs must be taken care of so that the customers in the market are serviced well.

HR in future organizations need to be a team rather than a one-person army. Their duties are not limited to hiring and sourcing work to members of the gig economy. It is going to be so much more than that with the heavy involvement of technology. The career options are unique and distinguished in their own way that will be helpful to cater to the employees and their needs.
