IT sector, being one of the most affected victims of the Great Resignation and talent shortage, the companies hailing from the same have started ramping up for robust hiring as offices are gradually reopening for the employees. Following the trend, Capgemini has announced that it is going to hire about 60,000 new employees in India this year. 

According to a report carried out by the Economic Times, this massive hiring drive aims at meeting the skills needs amid the rising demand for digital solutions among the client base of Capgemini. 

In a statement given to ET, CEO Yashwin Yardi told that the company has seen traction around the 5G lab project that was launched in India in 2021, in partnership with Ericsson. Yardi added, “We’ve been working with some of the global and Indian service providers to build industry use cases on 5G.”

In fact, to develop the necessary skillsets, the company has also partnered with several educational institutions. Commenting further on the 5G project, Yardi said that much of the desired skillsets are being built in India. So, with about half of the global 3,25,000 employee count being in India, Capgemini still aims at increasing the headcount within the country.
