Travel booking portal Cleartrip has announced that it has increased its workforce strength by 60% this quarter and plans to increase it by 40% next quarter. According to the company’s statement, the increase will effectively take Cleartrip’s workforce to 700 employees by December 2022, a 3X increase from 240 employees in October 2021.

The announcement comes on the back of Cleartrip’s recent acquisition by the Flipkart- part of Walmart Group, which has accelerated the brand’s growth strategy to make Cleartrip an end-to-end travel app by the end of 2022. On a steady wave of growth post the backing, Cleartrip plans to scale up its Hotels category portfolio Pan-India.

Speaking on their plans, Ayyappan Rajagopal, CEO, Cleartrip, said, “Cleartrip has been witnessing steady recovery as customer confidence slowly but surely returns to pre-COVID levels. At this juncture, it is the opportune time to scale up our business, which is understandably recovering slower than other sectors.

He also added that by hiring top talent from the industry across levels, the travel platform plans to infuse fresh energy and ideas into their team. As the company moves forward in 2022, one of their key goals this year is to bring more offerings, scale up our existing verticals to bring more digitally-enabled travel experiences for their customers to boost their confidence while traveling during what has been a difficult time.

Cleartrip kick-started their hiring process by hiring across regions in India to build out its hotel vertical portfolio as well as build the technology and product teams for this category.

The hiring plan is to cover popular destinations in India including Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab.
