With global connectivity being just a click away, the use of social media at the workplace is now more of a necessity than a bonus feature. Social media has moved from being a network to connect with friends, to being a vital medium of propagating voice and opinion of millions worldwide. In a survey by the Society for Human Resource Management, 68 percent of respondents said that their companies used social media for recruitment, marketing and external communication purposes. This reveals a growing trend in the use of social media and the active role it plays in the communication process of an organization. Adapting and adopting social media is essential to an organization and its communication programs. As a two-way communication, social media provides transparency and ensures better communication across the organization.
