PM Narendra Modi launches recruitment drive 'Rozgar Mela' to recruit 10 lakh people
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India is taking a number of efforts to lessen the effects of global economic issues while reiterating that the government's recent risks and actions have helped prevent a serious crisis.
The Prime Minister announced the government's employment process had been streamlined while distributing the first batch of appointment letters at a "Rozgar Mela." He also mentioned that other NDA-run states and union territories will soon begin a hiring push to fill open positions.
The government is preparing to quickly ratchet up its hiring campaign and fill 10 lakh positions by the summer of 2024, which also happens to be an election year. The first in a sequence of connected events is the Rozgar Mela.
The PMO described the move as a significant step forward towards fulfilling the continuous commitment of the prime minister to providing job opportunities for the youth and ensuring the welfare of citizens.
The BJP-led government is under fire from the Opposition over its alleged failure to create job avenues. It is believed that the government’s latest move is to counter the Opposition criticism.
In June this year, Modi asked various government departments and ministries to undertake the recruitment of 10 lakh people in a "mission mode" in the next year and a half.
According to sources, Modi took serious note of the employment scenario after a review of the status of human resources in all government departments and ministries.
The new recruits, selected from across the country, will join 38 ministries or departments of the government. The appointees will join the government at various levels in Group A and B (Gazetted), Group B (Non-Gazetted), and Group C.
Appointments will be made in the central armed force. Posts like personnel, sub-inspectors, constables, LDC, steno, PA, income tax inspectors, and MTS will be filled up.
PMO sources said that these recruitments are being done by ministries and departments either by themselves or through recruiting agencies such as UPSC, SSC, and the Railway Recruitment Board.
