There is a need for HR to look at their function differently. In particular, there is an opportunity for HR to partner with academic institutions in a more meaningful way. From outsourcing of training and research, as these are areas that the academic institution has ample expertise and resources, to an on-going collaboration in terms of backward integration in their talent strategy, engaging schools and colleges to participate in the educative process much more actively before the students graduate.
