An Effort to Improve Employability of Underprivileged Students

The two projects revolve around equipping young people with essential competency to survive employment hurdles.

Driven by the value of giving back to the communities where they live and work, Pitney Bowes Inc., a global technology company that provides innovative products and solutions powering commerce recently announced its association with ETASHA Society to support under privileged students to develop their employability skills. ETASHA, a not-for-profit organization is driven by an aim to serve the young talent from weak socio economic backgrounds to develop their skill sets by providing vocational training, career guidance, placements and installing higher standards of competence. The company is actively working with this society in addition to funding its two projects titled ‘Employability Skills Training and Placement for students of Industrial Training Institutes’ and ‘Pilot Project for Career Guidance for Government School Girl Students in Assam.’ To form a closer association, Mr. Manish Choudhary, Vice President, WW Engineering, Pitney Bowes has also been nominated to ETASHA Society’s Governing Council and he will be overseeing their activities from time to time.

The two projects revolve around equipping young people with essential competency to survive employment hurdles. With the objective to run over a span of 12 months, starting November 2014 to October 2015- the project ‘Employability Skills Training and Placement for students of Industrial Training Institutes’ will train 145 students from Kamal Ratan Industrial Training Center. Additionally, 780 students will also be skilled at Rajasthan Industrial Training Institute to suite the growing requirements in the sector by adopting relevant training and knowledge. The second project focuses on dual aspects covering women development and women economic independence. Pitney Bowes in its second initiative is supporting ETASHA’s ‘Pilot Project for Career Guidance for Government School Girl Students in Assam’. This project is proposed for Government School girls in Guwahati and is in collaboration with FLO, Guwahati.
