With the growing competition, the two newbies of airline industry AirAsia India and Vistara are also flying high in the league with a plan to recruit atleast 300 cabin crew members over the next 12 months.

The sprouting trend in hiring is backed up by the growing domestic air traffic accounting 18% in 2015 over 2014, the fastest annualized growth rate in the world. With the growing quench of the airline industry to cover maximum destinations as well as with rise in number of airline passengers, Airbus said that they will be delivering one plane every week to Indian carriers for the next ten years.

There is a remarkable change in the landscape of the new hirers in this industry having candidates from diversified professions like hotel executives, call-centre employees, nurses as well as teachers. Stressing on the brighter side, Summi Sharma, VP of Corporate Learning, IndiGo said, “The number of freshers-high school graduates applying for this industry has pullulated in the past few years”.

Although the rising growth of the aviation industry in India will keep the job market on a rise; a huge segment of the new recruitments at airlines is done to replenish vacancies created by attrition. For example, out of the total 1200 new recruitments that IndiGo made last year, only 900 were additions and rest were replacements.
