A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Monster India and the Indian Naval Placement Agency to support the retired and shortly retiring navy veterans, seeking suitable second career opportunities in the corporate world. The partnership will focus on identifying opportunities in sectors such as capital goods industries, IT, security space, ITeS, MSMEs, among others, for the uniquely skilled talent pool of INPA.

With a target of listing 2000 opportunities on Monster India’s website by the year 2020, Monster India aims to list more than 1000 opportunities in the next 12 months.

Commenting on the partnership, Abhijeet Mukherjee, CEO, Monster.com (APAC & Middle East) said, “The talent from India’s armed forces are much admired for the discipline, integrity, and motivation. Taking further, Monster’s vision of inculcating diversity and inclusion in the corporate world, we aim to assist retired navy veterans with customized job opportunities in accordance with their skill set.

He informed that Monster India will regularly provide the candidates with job fairs, interview etiquette tips, and career recommendations and will actively be tagging job seekers on Monster’s various platforms for bringing greater visibility to help successfully convert their candidature.

The Indian Naval Placement Agency (INPA) has been established as a welfare facility for the retiring / retired naval personnel to facilitate a second career option in the corporate world, under the aegis of Directorate of Ex-servicemen Affairs at the Indian Naval headquarters in February 2006. The existing INPA pool consists of around 8800 candidates across ranks. Majority of them are graduates and post-graduates and possess engineering and professional degrees such as MBA and L.L.B.

INPA’s Commodore Vivek Karnavat, Principal Director Ex-Servicemen Affairs said, “Our association with Monster India is to further strengthen the support INPA provides to the Navy Veterans to identify second career opportunities.”

INPA has been catering to the needs of retired navy veterans even before this partnership. To equip the talent pool of INPA with the skill set required for corporate India across ranks, the organization has been regularly conducting entrepreneurship training with certification under the aegis of National Institute of Small Business Development and Entrepreneurship (NIESBUD). In addition to this, all retiring sailors undergo Skill Development Courses, wherein they are certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning scheme.

INPA also has an association with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for officers who are keen to follow a career later in management. These endeavors have successfully resulted in placing candidates in over 5400 vacancies in the last three years, as shared by Vivek Karnavat.
