MP to abolish contractual work and create 1 lakh jobs: CM

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh believes that the contractual employment system is unjust and shared that it would soon be abolished. The chief minister didn’t share the timeline for the abolition of contractual jobs but stated that soon a meeting with contractual employees will be held. He also shared his government’s plan to create one lakh government jobs in various departments. For instance, recruitment of 31,000 teachers, assistant teachers and professors would be made soon and the vacancies would be advertised this month.

Further, the retirement age of employees of government departments, civic bodies, corporations, and courts would also be revised and raised to 62 years from 60. However, the decision of increasing retirement age has not been received well by the opposition and other parties. According to them, this step amounts to deceiving the 1.5 crores unemployed youth in Madhya Pradesh.

Recently there have been several updates on job creation and positive job outlook is being predicted across regions and sectors. The latest report by Teamlease highlighted that Delhi/NCR has the potential to create seven lakh jobs in sales domain and Indian tourism industry shared that it will help create 10 million more jobs in the next decade. Besides this, a lot of job creation is being witnessed particularly in the government sectors with Railway hiring for more than 90,000 posts.

The current data shows that only 19,226 people have got jobs in different government departments in the past 14 years of BJP rule. This reflects an average of 1,373 jobs per year, according to data tabled in the Legislative Assembly.
