Not too long ago, Artificial Intelligence (AI) seemed a distant dream. However, with unprecedented advancement in technology, this dream has become a reality. From shopping recommendations, image recognition, and personal assistants like Siri and Cortana; your phone and desktops have become a portal to real-world applications of artificial intelligence.

Recently, IIT Delhi announced hosting a week long hackathon on artificial intelligence starting from 28th June to 4th August. The primary objective of this hackathon is to bring together young talent in the AI space. Anshul Bhagi, Co-Director of OpenEd.ai, will lead this hackathon. OpenAI is a non-profit AI research organization that is working towards the development of AI capabilities. According to a media report, Niti Aayog, Omidyar Network (venture capital firm), IBM, Amazon Web Services, Google Developer Groups, Bhagi are other partners of the event. Professors from Harvard and MIT are on board as advisors and judges.

Today organizations are going out of their way to re-skill their employees on niche technologies like AI. They are also looking forward to growing their technical teams to push into technologies like A.I, automation, machine learning, and data analytics. As earlier reported at People Matters, many companies are conducting A.I hackathons to create awareness among budding engineers. Recently, OLX took a step ahead by holding 'Code and the Curious' Hackathon to recruit India’s best coding talent, skilled in emerging and disruptive technologies across machine learning, AI, and data science.
