Identify talent who are able to think laterally
While evaluating a high potential, never measure them against yourself. Focus on how the individual can help improve your weakness. Secondly it is important to assess if a talent has the ability to think laterally.
Many leaders commit the mistake of assessing the potential of an individual based on their own past. It is easy and convenient to measure some else against your own strengths. If, however, the frame of reference shifts to someone’s weaknesses, it makes the assessment of potential much more meaningful.
