Only 28 per cent of shared service organisations have a talent management program and even those who have one do not consider them effective. Understanding the range of the finance shared service function and understanding how that fits into the business is essential for the organisation to build a structured talent management program. Talent management in finance shared services organisations is siloed and underinvested, therefore leading to a lack of people skills in the finance shared service function. Successful shared service organisations are one that have the right technology in place, has the right communication between the shared service organisation and the business, and also has the right recruitment practice in place.
