Cognizant appoints Ramkumar Ramamoorthy as Executive Director

Cognizant Technology Solutions has appointed Ramkumar Ramamoorthy as the Executive Director of its India operations, a role that has been newly created, first reported by ET. 

He has been with Cognizant for over 19 years and before the current role, he was the Senior Vice President – Corporate Marketing, Corporate Affairs and Communications at the company. Ramamoothy, as reported by the publication will “lead the operations in India as the company attempts to streamline its cost structure to boost margins.”

Prior to joining Cognizant, he was with Tata Consultancy Services for more than two years as a part of their Communications and Editorial group.

As per his LinkedIn profile, he has been part of the Cognizant’s global Executive Leadership Team that’s responsible for setting the strategic direction for the company.

“Ramkumar, in this new role, will provide strategic direction and counsel to our business-enabling functions in India, and further strengthen our brand and reputation among all stakeholders,” said in a statement to ET. 

He joined Cognizant when the company had about 1,000 employees and revenues of under $50 million. Today, Cognizant has over 244,000 employees with over $12 billion in revenues. Cognizant is a member of the Fortune 500, Financial Times 500, NASDAQ-100 and S&P 500, to name a few.

Ramamoorthy writes in his LinkedIn profile that “During my years with Cognizant, I have had the good fortune of being a part of a passionate team that helped define, architect and shape the company’s leadership position, handling an integrated portfolio encompassing marketing, brand and communications, investor communications, corporate and educational affairs, and market research and competitor intelligence.”
