D Shivakumar resigns from PepsiCo India, Ahmed El Sheikh is new CEO

D Shivakumar to join the Aditya Birla Group as the Groups Executive Vice President (Corporate Strategy and Business Development) replacing D Muthukumaran who was the interim Head of Strategy after Saurabh Agarwal left to join Tata Sons.

PepsiCo India has appointed Ahmed El Sheikh as the CEO as D Shivakumar, the current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the American multinational food, snack, and beverage corporation has put in his papers.

“Ahmed El Sheikh is the current Senior Vice President and General Manager for PepsiCo Egypt and Jordan, will become the Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo India,” said Sanjeev Chadha, CEO (Asia, Middle East and Africa), PepsiCo Inc., in a statement. Ahmed will join PepsiCo India on 1 November and Shivakumar will continue with PepsiCo till 31 December, Chadha said. 

"Ahmed comes with an impressive depth and breadth of experience in high-profile PepsiCo markets, and has held leadership roles in both our foods and beverages businesses," Chadha added.

And D Shivakumar is set to join the Aditya Birla Group as the Group’s Executive Vice President (Corporate Strategy and Business Development), according to media reports. Shivakumar will replace D Muthukumaran who was the interim Head of Strategy after Saurabh Agarwal left to join Tata Sons.

In a statement to LiveMint, Adita Birla Group Director – HR and, CEO at Carbon Black Business, Santrupt B Misra confirmed Shivakumar’s appointment. Shivakumar is set to directly report to the company’s Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. “He will join over the next three months,” said Misra to Mint.

“Shiv has been with PepsiCo for the past four years and has been instrumental in leading the transformation journey for the company. Notably he has been a key driver for portfolio transformation and helped develop our nutrition business, launching winning innovations with our Quaker and Tropicana brands. Under his leadership, we also deepened consumer engagement with our flagship brands. We thank him for his commitment to the company and wish him best in his future endeavors,” Chadha said in his statement.

Prior to PepsiCo, Shivakumar had worked at Nokia, before that he was with Hindustan Unilever and Philips Consumer Electronics.
