Establishments can apply online for PF code from today

Employers will no longer have to chase officials and files to get a PF code with the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). They can now register online and will be allotted a PF code number, said Labour Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, who launched the online registration system that can be used by establishments, here on Monday. “This will clear hurdles, such as bureaucratic delays, and hopefully portability of the code number will also happen soon,” Tomar said. At present, establishments have to file physical applications with the region office concerned to register and get a PF code number, which would take a minimum of 20-25 days. The online system will also ease the process of ‘Doing Business’, on which India ranks 139th globally, Labour Secretary Gauri Kumar said on the occasion.
