Not happy with the delay in the settlement of their wages, employees of IDBI Bank have planned to go on strike on the 12th of April, as per media reports. AIBEA has come out in support of the decision, and has announced the participation of around 15,000 employees in the strike.

The government and the management (of IDBI Bank) are dilly-dallying and delaying the settlement with a view to frustrate the employees and officers and to force them to accept to lesser wage revision," the AIBEA was quoted as saying in a circular to its members.

The association has also sent a letter to the finance minister, asking for his intervention on the issue. In the letter, AIBEA general secretary C.H. Venkatachalam referred to the wage revision settlement to the banking sector which ended in May 2015. “However, wage revision which is due in IDBI Bank for employees from November 2012 is still lingering on and remains inconclusive”, he said. Venkatachalam also added that the inordinate delay in extending wage revision to employees and officers of IDBI Bank alone reeks of discrimination, deliberate isolation and unfair labour approach. He requested finance minister Arun Jaitley to intervene, and to ask the IDBI Bank management to expedite the resolution of the settlement.
