After Mukesh Bansal & Ankit Nagori, Punit Soni quits Flipkart

In January this year, when Mukesh Bansal and Ankit Nagori quit Flipkart, there was a huge speculation about how Punit Soni, the Chief Product Officer with Flipkart is also contemplating to put in his papers.

The rumour was put to rest by Flipkart in January itself, when the company told Economic Times that “Punit will transition from his current role to work with Binny Bansal, CEO of Flipkart on company-wide initiatives.”

However, the transition has not happened but this April, Punit Soni, hired by the e-commerce major just one year back, has decided to quit, the Economic Times have reported.

Soni who was being paid about $1 million annually in fixed salary was left with less-defined role when Sachin Bansal stepped down from the CEO’s position and Binny Bansal took over. He was also part of the app-only project of Flipkart and Myntra, which didn’t garner the kind of response the company thought it will.

Prior to joining Flipkart, Soni was VP of product management at Motorola, after Google acquired the phonemaker. In Flipkart, Soni was responsible for significantly enhancing the product design capability and hiring a strong tech team.
