General Motors appointed Sanjiv Gupta as the new President and MD

Sanjiv Gupta will replace Kaher Kazem, who is appointed as the President and CEO of General Motors Korea.
General Motors appointed Sanjiv Gupta as the new President and MD

General Motors India has appointed Sanjiv Gupta as the new president and managing director of the company. He will replace Kaher Kazem, who has been appointed as the President and CEO of General Motors Korea.

On Gupta’s appointment, General Motors Executive Vice President and President of General Motors International, Stefan Jacoby said, “Sanjiv Gupta is an experienced GM leader who has been a driving force behind our strategy. Sanjiv will continue to lead our plan to achieve better financial performance in India.”

Sanjiv joined General Motors in 2004 as a Senior Financial Analyst and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer last year in March 2016. He has over 19 years of experience and has an extensive background in decision support analysis, corporate finance and treasury, strategic planning, business development and relationship management. He is an engineering graduate from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. He completed his MBA from Ivey Business School at Western University in the year 2003.   

On his appointment, Sanjiv said it is an honor to be leading GM India at such a critical time for the business. Stating that GM India’s transformation is on track, Kazem said: “The overwhelming majority of dealers have accepted our transition package, we have begun exports of Chevrolet Beat sedans to Latin America, and our consolidation of manufacturing operations continues.”
